Modder Lance McDonald has revealed that he has been hit by a DCMA takedown notice from Sony Interactive Entertainment for his unofficial Bloodborne PS5 60 FPS patch.
On February 21st, 2021, I created and released a patch for Bloodborne which makes the game run at 60fps. Today I received a DMCA takedown notification on behalf of Sony Interactive Entertainment asking that I remove links to the patch I posted on the internet, so I’ve now done so.

Bloodborne is conscious as one of the only major PS4 games that hasn’t received an official 60 FPS update from Sony, despite the fact fans have been requesting one for years now. McDonald’s patch may have been unofficial, but it was the only way to experience Bloodborne at 60 FPS, and according to the modder, it would only require ‘2 lines of code that need changing‘ for Sony to make it happen.
Final Fantasy XVI voice actor Ben Starr has made it clear that he isn’t impressed we’ve yet to see an official patch, saying at the Golden Joystick Awards back in November last year that it’s “absolutely criminal” Sony hasn’t released it. Shuhei Yoshida, the recently-departed Sony Interactive Entertainment indie boss, shared his thoughts during an interview this month as to why he thinks the hardware manufacturer hasn’t done anything with Bloodborne in all this time.
Bloodborne was released for the PS4 back in March 2015.
