AFK Gaming recently had an engaging discussion with the co-owners of Entity Gaming, Varun Bhavnani and Neerav Rukhana. During this conversation, Varun expressed his belief that the quality of gaming content creation in India is not good, and the trend has shifted towards creating cringe content, getting involved in controversies, and similar stuff. As the Indian gaming industry significantly depends on outside brands, he suggested that content creators should focus on creating content that aligns with the brands’ vision.

Varun raises concerns over the decline in quality gaming content creation in India

Expressing his concerns about the decline of quality gaming content creation in India, Varun explained that the content creation trend in India has slowly shifted towards creating cringe content, getting involved in controversies, and such similar stuff that lowers the overall quality of the content. “It was a downer for both Neerav and me. We wanted to have that outlook of, you know, the bright side of gaming and not the illicit or explicit ways of content creation that became wild,” he added.

Varun acknowledged that such cringe, controversial, and explicit content might significantly improve creators’ numbers, get them popularity, and “make them look like the talk of the town.” However, he highlighted that Indian content creators are in such a business model that they are dependent on outside brands. Following this, to explain his point, he put forth an example of Formula 1, where there are brands all across the pie because they like the polish outlook. “They (brands) like to be away from all the controversies and all that crap and just stay focused on the game. I think it is very important for content creators to understand that they need to be in line with the vision of the brand,” he added.

As suggested by Varun, by creating a bright and polished outlook, content creators can attract outside brands and maintain a positive reputation in the industry. It is also important for content creators to understand the impact their content makes on the gaming industry as well as its reputation.

Entity's management also discussed why the organization exited Indian esports, the lack professionalism within the country's esports scene and compared it to Europe. Tune in to the Men of Culture Podcast on Spotify and YouTube on 27th March to listen to the full story.
