EA Sports NHL 25 has officially been revealed as it always is around this time every year like clockwork – but this time there’s a key change to the reveal.

EA’s hockey simulator is officially leaving PS4 and previous-gen consoles behind, with a PS5 and current-gen only release when EA Sports NHL 25 launches on October 4, 2024.

We also got the reveal of the cover athletes for the year, and this time it’s a family affair. Which is to say that brothers Quinn, Jack and Luke Hughes are each sharing the cover.

The reveal trailer for EA Sports NHL 25 didn’t exactly show off a lot of gameplay, but we did see a bit of what this new generation of NHL will look like. You can check out the trailer for yourself, below.

A new key gameplay change compared to last year is a new “gameplay intelligence system,” which according to EA is part of the “gameplay overhaul” that’s been done in EA Sports NHL 25.

Mike Inglehart, senior game design director at EA Vancouver said in a press release ““The new ICE-Q gameplay system represents a foundational shift in how players will experience the game, with its deep intelligence giving them complete control of the ice.”

“Hockey is built different, with NHL 25 delivering greater authenticity, bigger team rivalries and inspired by the sport’s next-generation superstars who continue to redefine the game,” he added.
