Diablo 4 Helltide Events: How to Unlock, Rewards, Enemies & More

11 months ago 126

Diablo 4 has been the talk of the town ever since its release on 6th June. With many players grinding their way through the role-playing game, many of them have already completed the main quest and are currently in the end-game. Helltide events in Diablo 4 are a type of World Event that unlock in the end game. Notably, players have to finish the main story of the game before they can access Helltides and they should also have a character within World Tier 3 or higher.

Here’s all you need to know about Diablo 4’s Helltide events, how to unlock and find them. This guide will also walk you through the rewards for the event and give you a gist of the enemies you will run into.

Unlocking Diablo 4 Helltide Events & Enemies

Helltide events are a new form of end-game content in Diablo 4 that have challenging quests and promising rewards. When Helltides occur, the region on the map is marked in a dark red outline. They can show up at random times and happen in Sanctuary’s different areas but you will be notified in advance when a Helltide is about to take place. When the region turns red, marking Helltide events, you will have a specific amount of time to join the fight and help clear the army of demons.

Helltide-afflicted zones will have their normal share of enemies and also a set of demons and cultists not native to Sanctuary. Apart from these, you will also find Helltide bosses who only spawn in these marked regions. The common enemies are called Helltide Commanders and the bosses will have their unique names.

Kixxarth also called Helltide Assassin is the boss who will spawn in every Helltide. You will likely find him roaming around a small part of the afflicted region.

But before getting into how to fight during Helltide events, let us see how to unlock them first.

Helltide Events do not show up automatically in Diablo 4 and as mentioned before, you need to have access to World Tier 3: Nightmare. For this, you will have to complete the main campaign of Diablo 4 and finish the Cathedral of Light Capstone on Veteran difficulty. Note that this demands a level 50-70 character requirement, basically denoting the end-game.

Once you have unlocked World Tier 3, Helltide events will spawn randomly on the map across any of the five regions. Notably, one Helltide event can easily last about an hour and all the enemies will be empowered significantly.

Ominously, during Helltides, the sky will turn red and it will rain blood.

Helltide Events: Aberrant Cinders, Loot & Rewards

Now that we know how to unlock Helltide events, let us dive into the fighting and looting. You will be given the opportunity to kill the monsters that spawn from these Helltide events. When you do so, you farm this item called Aberrant Cinders. They are the most common drop from the enemies that are slain during Helltides.

Once you have collected at least 75 Aberrant Cinders, you will be able to open the Tortured Chests around the active Helltide areas. Note that these chests will spawn at random locations across the Helltide zone. You will also see them marked on your map.

Keep in mind that you have to redeem your Aberrant Cinders within the hour when a Helltide spawns. If you fail to do so, they will disappear as the event ends. Additionally, when you die, you will also lose a certain amount of Aberrant Cinders.

Your other loot from these events includes end-game items such as high-rarity weapons, jewelry, and gear. You might also obtain Sacred and Ancestral items upon opening a Tortured Gift of Mysteries. You will also have a chance to get your hands on Forgotten Souls or Fiend Rose while farming the Helltide, killing enemies, or opening the Tortured Gifts.
