We've seen a bit of controversy cropping up about microtransactions in single-player games recently, and Cyberpunk 2077 / Witcher 3 developer CD Projekt Red has chimed in to confirm it sees "no place" for them in future SP titles.

Speaking as part of a recent Investor Chat (via StockWatch.pl), CD Projekt's Chief Financial Officer Piotr Nielubowicz advised that if the company were to ever implement microtransactions, it would only be in multiplayer games.

Piotr Nielubowicz: "We don't see a place for microtransactions in the case of single-player games, but we do not rule out that we will use this solution in the future in the case of multiplayer projects."

Ultimately, this doesn't come as much of a surprise from the team who previously confirmed Cyberpunk 2077 would only feature microtransactions as part of its multiplayer component - something that was eventually scrapped anyway.

For the studios who do add microtransactions in their single-player games though, it'll be interesting to see if the recent grumbles around the likes of Dragon's Dogma 2 will encourage a change of strategy in the months and years ahead.
