Counter-Strike 2 Is Getting Its First Major in 2024

Tournament organizer PGL just announced the very first Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) major which will take place in Copenhagen next year. The tournament will take place from 17th to 31st March and it will mark the beginning of the Counter-Strike 2 esports era. The upcoming major will be hosted at the Royal Arena in Denmark, which is one of the largest and most prestigious indoor arenas in the world.

PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024 Overview

The PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024 event will feature 24 of the best Counter-Strike 2 teams in the world with a massive prize pool of $1,250,000 USD. The winners of the event will take home the title of Major Champion and a massive chunk of the prize pool. 

The Copenhagen Major will be the very first Counter-Strike Major to take place in Denmark, a country known for producing some of the best talent in esports history. With esports stars like Johan “N0tail” Sundstein, Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz and Peter “dupreeh” Rasmussen, the country is deeply rooted in esports and fans will be excited to see how the Major unfolds.

PGL Ceo Silviu Stroie revealed in the official announcement, “One of the greatest games of all time is marching to another chapter, and we couldn't be happier to host probably the most important Major of the franchise in recent years. Denmark has a rich esports heritage, and we are excited to bring the world's best Counter-Strike teams to Copenhagen to compete for the game's most prestigious title.” 

PGL expects the Copenhagen Major to break Counter-Strike’s all-time viewership records. Tickets to the event will be available soon and more information about participating teams, the format, and other details will also be announced as we get closer to next year’s event.
