Can You Play Ultrakill on Xbox?

Ultrakill is a fast-paced first-person shooter indie game developed by Arsi “Hakita” Patala and published by New Blood Interactive. Its 90s-inspired art style combined with modern gameplay mechanics makes it stand out from the rest of the retro shooters in the market.

Initially released as an early-access title on Steam in January 2020, Ultrakill has amassed soaring popularity among fans of retro shooters, eventually leading to thousands of “Overwhelmingly Positive” reviews on Valve’s platform. If you are captivated by this game and wish to try it out on your Xbox console, here’s everything you need to know.

Does Ultrakill Run on Xbox?

Unfortunately, Ultrakill is available only on Steam and the developer’s official site. Although the game supports cloud gaming platforms like Amazon Luna and Nvidia Geforce Now, they are only supported on Windows or Linux systems, which means running the game on Xbox One or Xbox Series X/S is currently out of the question.

As good as Ultrakill is, you need to keep in mind that the game is still in its early access state, which is probably one of the main reasons behind the lack of a console port. Thankfully, even after being an early-release title for four years, Ultrakill still seems to retain its passionate fanbase.

Developer Hakita is working on improving Ultrakill’s gameplay, providing numerous bug fixes and patches to address issues that affect the players. These changes have been made consistently through hotfixes, with the latest one offering over 91 fixes along with other improvements like balancing and optimization.

Besides polishing the game, the developer is also keen on adding new content, the recent one being a “Full Arsenal” update, which brought features like Brutal difficulty, new weapons, new missions, weapon variations, and more. Ultrakill has arguably been one of the most successful Indie games out there, reportedly selling over 3.2 million units since its initial launch.

While it is disappointing that Ultrakill is not available on Xbox consoles, several other games offer a similar fast-paced first-person shooter experience, that can run flawlessly on your console. Some examples would be Trepang 2, Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun, Warstride Challenges, Severed Steel, Ziggurat 2, and Serious Sam Collection.
