Dragon's Dogma 2, the eagerly awaited sequel to Capcom's action RPG, is set to launch on 22nd March 2024. Players look forward to diving into its vast, immersive fantasy world. However, before beginning their journey, many players wonder if Dragon's Dogma 2 has fast travel. If you've been wondering the same, we've got you covered! In this guide, we'll look at everything you need to know about fast traveling in Capcom's upcoming RPG.

Dragon’s Dogma 2: Is There Fast Travelling?

It's a known fact that fast travel is a feature that every player has become used to in the huge worlds of video games. It's considered as one of the essential tools of open-world video games, making it easier for players to move from one location to another. However, the developers behind Dragon's Dogma 2 have said that there will be limitations with fast traveling in the game.

In an interview with IGN, game director Hideaki Itsuno said “Just give it a try. Travel is boring? That's not true. It's only an issue because your game is boring. All you have to do is make travel fun. That's why you place things in the right location for players to discover, or come up with enemy appearance methods that create different experiences each time, or force players into blind situations where they don't know whether it's safe or not ten meters in front of them.”

While it won't be impossible to travel fast in Dragon's Dogma 2, the limitations placed by Capcom encourage players to experience the world they've built. The development team has stated that they've put a lot of work into designing a game where players will encounter random interactions, making normal traveling in this game much more exciting.

Dragon’s Dogma 2: How Can You Fast Travel?

As we've mentioned before, fast travel in Dragon's Dogma 2 will have limitations. So far, we know about two ways of fast traveling in the game.

The first way to fast travel in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is to use Ferrystones. These expensive and rare items let you teleport to Port Crystals. It’s a conventional way of fast traveling, given that you can buy and locate Ferrystones. The original Dragon’s Dogma game had the same system.

The second way to fast travel will be a new addition to the franchise. The developers aim to release an unsafe fast-travel method called Oxcarts. Hideaki Itsuno hinted at how traveling by Oxcarts would be: “While riding one, you might find the path blocked by goblins and have no choice but to get off and join the battle. Then as you do, a Griffin might swoop in and destroy the entire cart with one blow, forcing you to walk the rest of the way while cursing its name.”

While you can fast travel with the help of an Oxcart, the world is constantly moving, and Capcom has designed a place where you’re not safe, no matter what you are doing. This will surely add a lot of realism to the title.
