Can You Earn Mastery Level 6 & 7 Tokens in ARAM?

League of Legends players love spamming their Mastery flares in-game to show off that they have completely mastered the champion that they are currently playing. Riot Games introduced the Mastery system in League of Legends to acknowledge a player’s investment in a champion.

This progression system tracks players' aptitude and experience with each champion. The more games you win with a particular champion and the better your end-of-the-game grades are, the better the chances of you unlocking Mastery Level 6 and Level 7 tokens. Currently, players cannot get Mastery Level 6 or 7 tokens even if they earn S- grade in ARAM (All Random All Mid) mode since it only works in Summoner’s Rift matches.

However, Riot Games revealed that this system is going to undergo a major change in the coming few weeks. A developer revealed that players can earn tokens even in ARAM games in the future. Here’s all you need to know about earning Mastery Level 6 and 7 tokens on ARAM mode.

What are Mastery tokens? Can you unlock them in ARAM?

If you are unaware of the Champion Mastery system in League of Legends, this is how it works.

Players can earn Champion Points by playing different champions and can level up from 1 to 5 using these points. Following this, League of Legends’ Hextech Crafting system takes over and players are required to score higher than an S- grade on their champion to gain a Mastery Token. While upgrading a champion to Mastery 6 requires two tokens, Mastery Level 7 requires three.

Here’s how you upgrade your Mastery level:

Earn Mastery 6 tokens for S-, S, and S+ games with champions that are Mastery Level 5: Combine two Mastery 6 tokens with that champion's Hextech shard, permanent, or 2450 Blue Essence to unlock Mastery Level 6.

Earn Mastery 7 tokens for S and S+ games with champions that are Mastery Level 6: Combine three Mastery 7 tokens with that champion's Hextech shard, permanent, or 2950 Blue Essence to unlock Mastery Level 7.

On 17th February, Riot Games developer Jordan “BarackProbama” Checkman wrote, “In some small but mighty news: We will be enabling ARAM players to earn mastery level 6/7 tokens starting in patch 13.5.

The developer joked, “I had to fight like 100 guys with increasingly larger weapons to make this happen, but in the end, we got there.

Currently, even if you end up getting an S+ rank on a particular champion in ARAM, you do not earn a Mastery Level 6 or 7 token. However, this latest quality-of-life change pushed by the developers will change the way players view the Howling Abyss map. Notably, LoL Patch 13.5 is scheduled to go live on the servers on 8th March.
