Bungie Was In Talks With Netflix For Destiny Animated Series, Didn’t Progress Beyond Scripting Phase

A Destiny animated series was at one stage being planned by Bungie and Netflix, which dates back to before the the Halo developer was acquired by PlayStation.

Paul Tassi of Forbes reports that the project never progressed beyond the scripting phase, although it is believed that there still remains ambitions to turn Destiny into a trans media franchise. Back in 2023 for example, Bungie took on Gabriel VanHuss as its head of linear media for Destiny in order to expand it into “TV, films, books, comics and audio formats.”

Sony has been busy turning a number of its major franchises into TV shows, with God of War and Horizon both receiving adaptations, while Twisted Metal has already got its own show. However, Destiny still remains to have been given the green light in regards to a TV adaptation, although it still may happen.
