Bungie has a new game director for its coming reboot of Marathon, as former Valorant director Joe Ziegler has replaced Christopher Barrett.

Ziegler confirmed he has been the director for Marathon for the last nine months with a post on his personal Twitter account, which also confirms that Barrett was replaced shortly after Marathon was first revealed.

“For the last 9 months I’ve been working on Marathon as the game director. We’re still baking, but I’m excited to share with you more info on the game as we get closer and closer to bringing it all to you,” wrote Ziegler.

Hey everyone! Fun update: for the last 9
Months I’ve been working on Marathon as the game director. We’re still baking, but I’m excited to share with you more info on the game as we get closer and closer to bringing it to all of you.

It’s unclear what Barrett’s position within Bungie still is, as he’s been a long-time veteran with Bungie. Additionally, according to a report from IGN, Bungie is doing all it can to try and get Marathon into players hands, even as work on The Final Shape ramps up as we inch closer to its release.
