In a surprising turn of events, BOOM Esports revealed that it has parted ways with its South American Dota 2 roster after its initial trial period. The organization expressed gratitude for the dedication and efforts of the players during this period, marking the end of their association with BOOM Esports.
BOOM Esports, an Indonesian esports organization, strategically shifted its focus from Southeast Asia to South America last month. This move followed the departure of the previous Dota 2 lineup on 3rd November 2023, with the clear intention of revamping the team.
BOOM Esports Concludes its Trial Period for South American Roster
BOOM Esports ended its trial period of the South American stack that was actively seeking representation in the aftermath of the Post TI roster shuffle, following the failure to qualify for ESL One Kuala Lumpur and ending its Pinnacle: 25 Year Anniversary Show in a heartbreaking fashion.
The Tweet read "The trial period has concluded and starting today, they are no longer part of BOOM Esports. We would like to express our gratitude for their dedication and efforts during the period."
BOOM Esports' latest roster included Christian "Pakazs" Savina, Jordan "SLATEM$" Vega, Rafael "Sacred" Yonatan, Farith "Matthew" Puente, and Romel "Mjz" Quinteros Rojas were looking for an organization for ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023. Notably, the roster featured two players each from Evil Geniuses (EG) and Thunder Awaken, along with one player from beastcoast. Gor "kaffs" Furtado, former coach of Evil Geniuses, was enlisted as the coach, adding further depth to the lineup.
The new roster made its debut at the ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023: South America Closed Qualifiers as one of the invited teams. Despite encountering challenges and being knocked down to the lower bracket by Mad Kings, they showed resilience by securing a victory against BocaJuniors. However, their journey came to an end in the qualifiers after facing elimination by Keyd Stars.
Undeterred by these setbacks, the team participated in the Pinnacle: 25 Year Anniversary Show, where they faced tough competition. Unfortunately, they were unable to secure a win in any of the four series played against Team Klee, Virtus.pro, MarsBet Team, and SIBE Team, resulting in elimination during the group stages. The team finished with the second-lowest points in the group stages and a standing of 17th-20th.
The organization has hinted at forthcoming updates, which could indicate that it wants to maintain its presence in Dota 2.
