Blue Reflection: Sun Will Shut Down in May 2024

Koei Tecmo and Gust announced that they will shut down Blue Reflection: Sun on May 30, 2024, at noon JST. The companies have immediately disabled all microtransaction features in the free-to-play game. The development team will release the last two cases by April 2024 so players will have about a month to see the story’s conclusion. [Thanks, 4Gamer.]

While the companies made the announcement on the game’s official website, it may not be viewable worldwide due to regional restrictions. However, they also published a tweet on the game’s official X account, which is available to view right below:

Gust established Sun as one of the three multimedia projects that together constitute the continuation of the 2017 RPG title Blue Reflection. The other two are the anime show Blue Reflection: Ray and the console game Blue Reflection: Tie—also known in the West as Blue Reflection: Second Light.

Both Ray and Second Light appeared worldwide in 2021 through media sources that will remain accessible in the long term. Blue Reflection: Sun officially launched on February 21, 2023. Therefore, the game had only barely made it through the first anniversary when Koei Tecmo announced its closure.

The development did not announce any plans to make a permanent offline archive version in this announcement, so existing players may have no methods to relive memories of the online-exclusive game.

Blue Reflection: Sun is available in Japan on iOS and Android mobile devices, as well as PC via DMM Games, until May 30, 2024.
