Blizzard has announced that its annual in-person convention, BlizzCon will no longer take place for 2024, and instead Blizzard will deliver updates on its coming projects “over the next few months.”

The announcement was made in a blog post on Blizzard’s website, where Blizzard also says that the cancellation of BlizzCon 2024 doesn’t mean there will be no in-person events from Blizzard this year.

Details on events around World Of Warcraft’s 30th Anniversary are still to come, and Blizzard will still be present at other in-person events throughout the year, such as Gamescom 2024.

BlizzCon 2024 however, won’t be happening. But Blizzard is also clear in saying that this doesn’t mean BlizzCon is gone for good, it’s just trying something different for 2024.

“After careful consideration over the last year, we at Blizzard have made the decision not to hold BlizzCon in 2024,” the blog post began. “This decision was not made lightly as BlizzCon remains a very special event for all of us, and we know many of you look forward to it.”

“While we’re approaching this year differently and as we have explored different event formats in the past, rest assured that we are just as excited as ever to bring BlizzCon back in future years.”
