Best Ascent Lineups for Viper in Valorant

1 year ago 194

Viper is one of the most feared Controllers in Valorant with a kit that screams ‘post-plant.’ As players started to learn how to play Viper, her pick rate went off the charts and she turned into an agent who dictated the meta. Viper is still picked on multiple maps and she shines in post-plant situations where she can make the best use of her smoke cloud, mollies, and ultimate. Her molly is called Snake Bite and this ability is predominantly used for post-plant scenarios where players deny defusing the spike through easy-to-learn, simple lineups. Ascent is the perfect place to start learning lineups given the sites have open roofs and it becomes easy to use your abilities.

Here are the best Viper lineups for Ascent in Valorant.

Viper lineups on Ascent you need to master

Before we get into the nitty-gritty of Viper lineups, we must first learn what her abilities are. If this is your first time picking Viper, here is a breakdown of her abilities.

Fuel (Passive): Viper gradually generates and replenishes the toxin that fuels her abilities.

Toxin (Passive): Enemies that cross through Viper's Poison Cloud, Toxic Screen, or Viper's Pit are instantly inflicted with decay. Their decay level increases the longer they remain in contact with it.

Snake Bite (C): Equip a chemical launcher. Fire to launch a canister that shatters upon hitting the floor, creating a lingering chemical zone that damages and applies the vulnerable effect.

Poison Cloud (Q): Equip a gas emitter. Fire to throw the emitter that perpetually remains throughout the round. Alt-Fire to lob. Re-use the ability to create a toxic gas cloud at the cost of fuel. This ability can be re-used more than once and can be picked up to be redeployed.

Toxic Screen (E): Equip a gas emitter launcher that penetrates terrain. Fire to deploy a long line of gas emitters. Re-use the ability to create a tall wall of toxic gas at the cost of fuel. This ability can be re-used more than once.

Viper’s Pit (X): Equip a chemical sprayer. Fire to spray a chemical cloud in all directions around Viper, creating a large cloud that reduces the vision range of players and the maximum health of enemies inside of it. Hold the ability key to disperse the cloud early.

Now that we know what Viper’s abilities do, let us dive into her lineups.

Ascent A-Site Green Box (Post plant)

The green box in the middle of the A site in Ascent is one of the most common plant areas for attackers given that the boxes give plenty of cover while planting and it also becomes easy to defend since it is planted open. As a Viper on attack, this particular place becomes easy to defend with molly lineups.

To execute this post-plant lineup setup,  you need to go to the green double boxes at A-lobby and tuck yourself in the corner between the boxes and the wall. When you look to your right, you will see a wall with a pig painted on it. Look further behind that wall, to notice a part of another building in the distance. Now, once you’ve located this part, all you have to do is place your crosshair in the middle of this building’s outline and launch your Snake Bite. The Snake Bite will have the perfect bounce and break on top of the spike planted in front of the boxes.

Ascent A-site Generator (Post plant)

The Generator on A-site is the default plant for players. It gives good cover from A-Heaven and also allows the attackers to safely leave via the Garden after planting. You can also defend this post by playing from A-Main or Wines by just peeking when the enemies try to defuse the spike. Viper has a simple lineup for the A-Generator plant from the same green, double boxes on A-Lobby, from the same spot back at A-Lobby.

Now, the process is a bit different for this lineup. You need to follow these steps:

  • Firstly, you will need to identify the HUD line (a white curvy one) above your health indicator.

  • You need to use this line for this Viper lineup.

  • Look for the chunky, metal structure (a generator panel) in front of you as you turn around from the green boxes in A-Lobby.

  • Now, place the right tip of the HUD’s white line just underneath the small white dot on the generator panel

  • Launch the Snake Bite molly.

Ascent B-site Boxes (Post plant)

One of the default plant spots on B-site is the back of the three green boxes in front of the boathouse. This is fairly easy to defend with Viper’s easy lineup from B-main.

Here’s how you do it:

  • Tuck yourself in the corner between the stall and the brick wall on B-Main.

  • Turn around to locate a small pipe on the B-Main Entrance’s wall to the left. You will notice that the pipe has a bend.

  • Now, place the tip of the Poison Cloud icon on the pipe’s bend

  • Launch Viper’s snake bite.

There’s another lineup for Vipers to delay the defuse on B’s default plant behind the boxes. For this, you need to play from the B-entrance. You need to go to the corner of B-entrance where players usually hide from Killjoy’s turret. Now face the B-site from this location and move to your left until there’s a small gap from which you can peek. You will notice the vents on the wall behind Boathouse forming a square-shaped design. Now aim just beneath the square-shaped vents and launch the molly. Your Snake Bite will bounce off that wall and fall onto the spike.

Now, with these lineups for default plants in both sites, you can definitely help your team stall the rounds and win as attackers on Ascent. By chance, if you happen to be behind your enemies and if you have intel that they are planting, you can still use these lineups to deny their plant and force them to move around in the site.
