Behavior Interactive Shutters Midwinter Entertainment Following Project T’s Cancellation

On Tuesday, Behavior Interactive announced that they would be cancelling Project T, a 1-4 PvE co-op shooter that was a spin-off of Dead By Daylight.

Now, the studio has confirmed to Game Developer that the projects cancellation also includes the shuttering of the studio that was behind it, Midwinter Entertainment.

Instead of being directly laid off, the members of the Seattle-based team are being offered new jobs, though they require relocating to Behavior’s studios in Canada. If they choose not to accept the new role, then Behavior says they’ll be given a “generous” severance package.

You can see the whole statement that was provided to Game Developer, below.

“Yesterday, Behaviour Interactive announced the cancellation of Project T and the closure of its Midwinter studio in Seattle. This decision was taken following a diligent risk assessment from a commercial and a product perspective, which yielded unsatisfactory results.

This sad news in no way reflects the talent of the team, who put a lot of energy into Project T. All the employees were offered to relocate to our Canadian studios, as we strongly believe in their expertise.

Should they decide not to accept, they will be presented with a generous severance package. We want to thank them for all their hard work on Project T and wish them the very best for the future.”

While not everyone will be able to relocate, getting the offer to do so is marginally better than every member of the team just being dropped. Behavior previously laid off 95 people at the beginning of June.
