10 months ago 89

The Bali Major 2023 Group Stages have ended, and all the 12 teams moving forward to the playoffs have been decided.

All 4 Western European (WEU) teams have managed to secure Top 4 finishes, and will start in the upper bracket of the playoffs.

Southeast Asian (SEA) representation ends as all the teams exit, while Eastern European (EEU) face challenges.

As the group stages of the Bali Major 2023 came to a close, the stage is set for the playoffs of the last Major of the DPC 2023 season. The tournament has had several memorable moments, such as the 2-hour and 16-minute game between Quest Esports and Gaimin Gladiators, and Blacklist International’s record-breaking comeback against Invictus Gaming.

The Major also sees the resurgence of Western European (WEU) dominance, the disappointment for Southeast Asian (SEA) teams, and the mixed results of the Eastern European (EEU) squads.

WEU Teams Asserting Dominance

The Bali Major playoffs have witnessed the resurgence of WEU teams as they dominate the group stages. All four WEU teams at the major - Team Liquid, Tundra Esports, Quest Esports, and Gaimin Gladiators have secured a spot in the Top 4 of both groups.

The result shows the WEU teams taking back their place as the strongest region in the world, with Quest Esports emerging as the newest WEU force, taking the 1st place standing in Group B. On the other hand, Gaimin Gladiators look to win its 3rd major title of the DPC 2023 season, matching OG’s record in the past.

SEA teams out of the Major

In contrast to the success of WEU, the Bali Major group stages have been anything but kind to SEA teams. Execration, Bleed Esports, and Blacklist International have all been eliminated from the tournament, marking a disappointing exit for the region.

Despite their initial struggles, there were hopes of a comeback for SEA teams, especially with the tiebreakers for both Blacklist International and Bleed Esports to secure a playoff spot. However, their efforts were ultimately in vain as they fell to Shopify Rebellion and Azure Ray respectively.

Eastern European challenges

While all the Eastern European teams have secured playoff berths, their performances have been more mixed compared to their WEU counterparts. BetBoom stands as the sole Eastern European representative starting in the upper bracket of the playoffs, showcasing its consistency and skill throughout the group stages.

On the other hand, 9Pandas and Team Spirit will commence their playoff journey from the lower bracket, facing the challenge of fighting their way up to claim the championship.

As the Bali Major 2023 moves into its playoffs stage, the dominance of WEU teams in the group stages has taken form once again, similar to the previous tournaments of the DPC 2023 season. In contrast, the elimination of all SEA teams signifies a disappointment for the region, especially considering the major is on their home turf. Eastern European teams, while securing playoff berths, face varied challenges, with BetBoom in the upper bracket and 9Pandas and Team Spirit starting their journey from the lower bracket. The playoffs promise thrilling matches as teams battle it out for the ultimate glory at the Bali Major 2023.
