Assassin’s Creed Hexe Could Feature A Female Protagonist and Leave A “Lasting Mark”

With Assassin’s Creed going from strength to strength this year, the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Hexe is rumoured to feature a female protagonist.

With Assassin’s Creed Mirage set for October and Assassin’s Creed: Codename Red promising a deep dive into feudal Japan, Ubisoft are pushing out all the stops for the much-loved franchise.

Now in recent days, it has been hinted that the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Nexus could feature a female protagonist as well as leaving a “lasting mark”.

Assassin’s Creed Hexe Could Feature A Female Protagonist

Although Ubisoft hasn’t revealed too much about what we can expect from Hexe, with a title like that, fans are expecting a witch-like protagonist. More specifically, a female protagonist.

Eivor was the most-recent female protagonist

This would also make sense considering a previous report from Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier revealed that it could take place in the Holy Roman Empire during the witch trials.

Additionally, the in-game codename translates to “witch” in German leading some to believe it could take place in 16th/17th century Germany.

Now thanks to a report from Game Rant, we may have received our first official hint thanks to a LinkedIn post. Yara Tabbara, Ubisoft Montreal’s talent acquisition specialist, wrote:

“Many rumours have been swirling about the witch-themed Assassin’s Creed IP, AC Hexe, announced at Ubisoft Forward last year, and currently under development at Ubisoft Montréal.

“While I cannot confirm or deny these rumours, I can assure you that this game will leave a lasting mark on the franchise. Personally, I can’t contain my excitement (or major chills) every time we get an update about this project.”

The Future of AC

As mentioned, Ubisoft has a lot of plans for Assassin’s Creed in upcoming months with a few new instalments in the pipeline.

Additionally, the much-loved AC Black Flag is reportedly getting a remake courtesy of Ubisoft Singapore. The sea-faring pirate adventure was greatly received when it first released back in 2013 so it will be interesting how it can be improved even more.
