Apex Legends And Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth Crossover Announced At The Game Awards

The most unlikely crossover to be announced at The Game Awards 2023 was announced on Thursday, and that’s a crossover between Respawn Entertainment’s battle royale Apex Legends and Square Enix’s upcoming Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth.

Beginning January 9, 2024, the world of Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth will “join us in the Outlands” says Respawn in a tweet that went live as the announcement was made during Thursday’s show.

The specifics of the crossover aren’t certain, but we do see Crypto wielding Cloud’s infamous Buster sword, swinging it around in game in what could potentially be a new mode.

It could perhaps even be a care package weapon, that does an immense amount of melee damage. In either case we’ll have to wait to see.

No two games could be farther from each other, but we’ll have to see just how Square and Respawn have brought them together.

It’ll likely arrive with a few Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth-inspired cosmetics that’ll be shown closer to the update’s launch date.
