All You Need is Help: Everything We Know

1 week ago 42

At one point or another, every one of us needs help from family, friends, and even strangers. The same is true in gaming, where multiplayer games open up lots of opportunities to help out someone else. Co-op mode is probably the best example of lending a hand to another player and reaping the fruits of our combined efforts as a team.

All You Need is Help wants to create a game that thrives on teamwork. It plans to enforce firm friendships by credit roll, ones you’ll hopefully carry forward into the future. Shall we see what All You Need is Help has in store? Here’s everything we know so far about the upcoming All You Need is Help video game.

What is All You Need is Help?

Tetris

All You Need is Help is an upcoming cooperative puzzle game. It puts a twist on traditional Tetris, where the different shapes you use to solve puzzles are transformed into cute, little, walking animals. Each player controls each shape, moving the living Tetris-like object over a map to its rightful place. And since you cannot rotate the varied shapes, it adds an extra layer of strategy for figuring out where to go.

Story

All You Need is Help doesn’t seem to have a fully fleshed-out story. It does feature characters represented in the form of walking Tetris-like shapes. The characters are incredibly quirky, as are the environments, which are brimming with vibrant color and life. The main mission of the game is to move your character to its rightful position on a map. Your teammate will also move their character, and together, you’ll aim to create a specific pattern to complete the level successfully. The idea behind the title, “All You Need is Help,” is that when you’re stuck, you can yell, “Help!” and your friends will come to your rescue. Here’s the story description via the Family Gaming Database below.

All You Need Is Help is a cooperative puzzle game where each player controls a fluffy Tetris-style character. Play involves coordinated with each other to maneuver into position and match patterns on the ground. It stands out for the simple pattern-matching premise, cute characters and the requirement to communicate clearly with each other to progress.

Gameplay

The gameplay puts its own unique twist on the traditional puzzler, Tetris. In All You Need is Help, each player controls a walking Tetris-like shape. Each shape is different, so you need to figure out the best way to navigate it around the map. The goal is to move the shape to its rightful place on the map in such a way that it forms a specific pattern. As you progress, you’ll unlock more challenges. You cannot rotate the shapes. Additionally, you’ll be playing with others, so you coordinate your movements on the map. You can even be asked to escort someone else.

All You Need is Help will be a cooperative puzzle game. You’ll need someone else to join you, with a maximum of four players. Your teammates can join you online or offline, with both co-op local and co-op online modes supported by the game. This means you can turn the gaming session into a party game. You can invite family and friends to join you, with the adorable nature of the game making it perfect for gamers of all ages. Any gamer who’s over seven years old should be able to play the game, as the gameplay isn’t too complex to understand. Here’s the gameplay description via the Family Gaming Database below.

With three friends, you play a customisable fluffy cube-shaped creature. There are different challenges, and each requires you to work together and collaborate to get into position, traverse the level or escort someone to their destination. The challenge is not only your awkward shapes but that you can't rotate. As you progress you can customize how your Tetris-shaped characters look with different accessories and add-ons. The result is a fun challenge, similar to Mario Party, but with a focus on collaboration rather than competition.

Q-Games is currently working on developing and publishing All You Need is Help. You may know the studio from PixelJunk, which is a series of downloadable games developed by Q-Games. The series kicked off as early as 2007, launching on PlayStation 3 with PixelJunk Racers. Today, there are many more PixelJunk games available for download, including the most popular, PixelJunk Monsters, PixelJunk Eden and PixelJunk Shooter, leading up to the latest PixelJunk Raiders that was released on March 1, 2021.

Now, Q-Games seems ready to branch out into a new franchise with All You Need is Help. As a puzzler, the studio will doubtless draw inspiration from previous works, including the puzzle racing video game, PixelJunk Racers. Here’s to hoping that come Fall 2024, Q-Games will have a worthwhile entry for every type of gamer to dive into.
