Activision Reportedly Rejected A Pitch From Vicarious Visions For Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3+4, Instead Wanting Vicarious To Support Work On Call Of Duty

Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1+2 was such an unexpected franchise resurgence that it had many fans, old and new, excited for whatever Vicarious Visions was slated to do next in the world of skateboarding video games.

The logical next move, or at least what seemed logical to everyone, was for Vicarious to make Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3+4.

Well, according to YouTuber and video game historian Liam Robertson, while investigating other cancelled projects, Vicarious Visions did indeed pitch THPS 3+4 to Activision, who rejected the pitch because they wanted Vicarious to continue doing support work on the Call Of Duty franchise.

“Around launch there was a brief flicker of hope that Vicarious Visions would get to fulfill their ambition of revamping Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3+4, but that soon faded,” Robertson explains.

“A pitch for such a project was presented to Activision’s head shortly after the first two were finished, and they [Activision] declined to greenlight it, again telling the studio that they wanted them to focus on supplementing their larger franchises.”

Activision turning its teams into Call Of Duty support studios isn’t all that surprising as we’ve seem it before, and while Robertson’s claims will likely always remain rumours on an official level, it’s not too difficult to believe that Activision killed any project that in its eyes would’ve taken too much time away from work on Call Of Duty.
