Stardew Valley launched in 2016, and since then it has become the quintessential cozy-farming game across the industry. It’s been released on multiple console and portable platforms across generations of hardware, and as of 2025, has officially surpassed 41 million copies sold.
The sales update was added to the game’s press page at the bottom of the section on the game’s history, which says “As of December 2024, Stardew Valley has sold over 41 million copies across all platforms.”
It continues to say that the majority of these sales have been on PC at 26 million, and a significant chunk of the console sales have been on Nintendo Switch, at 7.9 million copies sold on Nintendo’s handheld/home console hybrid device.
That the game has reached 41 million copies sold is an outstanding achievement, made even more incredible by the fact that since February 2024, when it was announced that the game had passed 30 million copies sold, Stardew Valley went on to sell another 11 million copies to hit the 41 million mark.
To sell more than 11 million copies in a year, a little less than a decade since the game first launched, is huge. Though it’s worth noting that a large push to these sales likely coincided with the release of the biggest update the game had seen in years with update 1.6 launching on all platforms.
With no ‘1.6 update’ or anything like it on the horizon for 2025, it’s unlikely that it’ll have another giant bump in sales in the coming twelve months. But its continued success works to even better set the stage for developer ConcernedApe’s next game, The Haunted Chocolatier.
It might still be years away – but whenever it does launch, it’s clear that it’ll have millions and millions of eyes looking towards it to see what’s next up Barone’s pixelated sleeves.
