Randy Pitchford Promises Gearbox Will Do “Whatever We Can” To Get A Dying Fan The Chance To Play Borderlands 4

A Borderlands fan who has been diagnosed with terminal cancer made a plea on Reddit, asking if anyone could help him get in touch with Gearbox, and ask if he’d be able to play Borderlands 4 before he passes.

Spotted by GamesRadar, Reddit user and Borderlands fan Caleb McAlpine put out a call to the internet, and the internet responded. At time of writing, his call on the Borderlands 3 Reddit has more than 15,000 upvotes.

Thankfully, the power of the internet remains undefeated as Gearbox head Randy Pitchford is fully aware of the situation, and has vowed that Gearbox will do “whatever we can to make something happen.”

In a post on Twitter Pitchford thanked those who’d made sure he was aware of McAlpine’s call, and confirmed that he’s now speaking to McAlpine through e-mail.

Hopefully Pitchford and the team at Gearbox will be able to get McAlpine some kind of build to play. Borderlands 4 was only finally revealed during this year’s Gamescom ONL showcase, and isn’t due to release until sometime in 2025.
