Shenmue III was released for PS4 and PC in November 2019 as the long-awaited follow-up to Yu Suzuki’s revenge-driven adventure series, which began life on the Dreamcast back in 1999. The game follows 18-year-old Ryo Hazuki as he continues his journey to track down the fearsome Chinese martial artist, Lan-Di, who murdered his father at the beginning of the original game.
Suzuki-san has not yet announced Shenmue IV, but said back in 2020 that if it were to happen then the game would need to appeal to a broader audience.
