My Time at Evershine: Everything We Know

2 weeks ago 50

If there’s one glaring change in the teaser trailer for the upcoming My Time at Evershine, it’s that the developers really went to work on the character modeling. From the wonky design of the original My Time at Portia to the more realistic design of the sequel My Time at Sandrock, and now a more anime character design. Look, the graphics in My Time at Sandrock did the job just fine. You could tell that it was a My Time game just from looking at the character designs.

And now, well, the series may become a lot more generic to the likes of Final Fantasy. Still, on the gameplay front, which is the actual meat of the game, Pathea seems to have gone deeper and bigger. From building and upgrading homes to forging long-lasting relationships, the new game stretches its boundaries of all that makes the My Time series great. Here’s everything we know so far about the upcoming game My Time at Evershine.

What is My Time at Evershine?

Lady - My Time at Evershine

My Time at Evershine is an upcoming 3D sandbox life simulation RPG adventure-packed game. It’s the third game in the My Time series, which has been successful with its My Time at Portia and My Time at Sandrock installations, respectively. The new game will provide a similar cozy adventure, bringing back plenty of the gameplay and characters from the predecessors.

You’ll play the role of the Governor of Evershine, a greener world that needs you to put up a brand-new settlement for your people. The settlement lies at the edge of the Free Cities, where the Duvos Empire poses an impending threat. So, in preparation for the war to come, you’ll recruit settlers, both old and new. You’ll build homes and infrastructure for your people. You’ll transform the wilds into a cozy home and lead your settlers into becoming a new ally for the Alliance.

Story

My Time at Evershine will be set in a post-apocalyptic open world. It’ll take place 330 years after the Day of Calamity wiped up an entire civilization. However, there are survivors who were bunking underground for hundreds of years. And now, they are finally ready to reemerge to the surface and start afresh. In terms of the time period in relation to My Time at Sandrock and My Time at Portia, the new game will take place three years later.

The Duvos Empire is the impending threat that has taken over the Orzu Ruins region, which includes Ethea. As a result, rising tension is on the North of the Alliance of Free Cities on the border of the Northern Eufala region. The Alliance is responsible for the North Development Plan, which aims to recruit settlers into the region and set up a new city-state. This will allow a better defense, which is where you come in.

Gameplay

Setting up a new city-state that is thriving and able to defend itself calls for varied gameplay. You’ll foster romances, for instance, between eight charming NPCs. Beyond, you’ll discover over 20 NPCs, each with unique personalities, and recruit them to your settlement. The NPCs will forge friendships and long-lasting relationships, too.

As the Governor, your job is to build up new infrastructure. To do so, you’ll recruit settlers, transform the wilds into livable areas, and set up a strong defense at the border. Construction will have all sorts of designs, allowing customization and decoration.

Further, you can play the game with friends in multiplayer co-op. It’ll allow up to three players per gaming session, with the freedom to construct buildings, recruit settlers, battle against enemies, build romance, dungeon-crawl, and more.

Other nitty gritty you can expect include climbing and gliding, seasonal events and mini-games, character customization, side quests, and much more.

Reveal Teaser| My Time at Evershine

On September 17, 2024, Pathea launched a My Time at Evershine reveal teaser trailer. It goes pretty in-depth into the combat, characters, and world you can expect in the final game. The combat is pretty snappy, with only a few snippets of swordplay-in-action shown. It’s apparent, however, that we’ll be running and exploring a world with a lot of greenery, which is a welcome move from the more desert setting in My Time at Sandrock.

One thing’s for sure: there’ll be no skinny arms in the final design of the game, as the developer has taken a huge stride in revamping the character models. Whether the upgrade is for the good or bad of the series remains up to debate. On one hand, the characters do look invigorating. On the other hand, the designs are pretty familiar anime models that draw the series away from its innate signature look to something more akin to the likes of Final Fantasy. Feel free to check out a more detailed teaser trailer here.
