Until Dawn 2024: How to Keep Everyone Alive

Immerse yourself in the horror survival game Until Dawn 2024 and marvel or frown at your choices. It’s a classic survival game with up to eight playable characters. You dive into the thrilling exploration of the isolated Blackwood Mountain, where everything is not exactly what it looks like. Will you survive a world where your choices and actions determine who lives and dies? Here are a few quick tips to help you keep everyone alive. 

Saving Jessica

Jess is Mike’s girlfriend, who is pretty confident and outgoing. Her personality and teenage will constantly see her play at the edges of her life. She’s the first character you will save as you progress the Until Dawn 2024 playthrough in Chapters 4 and 10. Mike can chase and save her after she’s snatched over the window in Chapter 4. He will encounter a few QTEs and the options to take the safer or faster route. If you want to find Jessica alive, follow the fast paths and hope you don’t see her jaw ripped.

In Chapter 10, she reappears alone or alongside Matt, trying to escape the Wendigo. Here, you must only hide instead of running and stay still so the Wendigo won’t detect any movements. 

Keeping Chris Alive

In a way, Chris’s life or death is in the hands of Ashley, so he must maintain good relations with her. So, if you want to save Chris through your Until Dawn gameplay, your choices must favor Ashley. Therefore, save Ashley over Josh in Chapter 5, and in the next Chapter, turn the gun to yourself and save her. From there, shoot at the targets in time in Chapter 8 as the Wendigo chase you to delay it. Chris will drop into the cabin, and Ashley will open the door and gladly save you.

Finally, as you play Ashley in Chapter 9, do not leave Chris and make sure he remains close and does not investigate the voice at the trapdoor. 

How to Save Matt

Keeping Matt alive is the most challenging ordeal of all the characters. You will quickly have him perish with seemingly minor decisions. You should avoid picking sides blindly when dealing with him. That said, once you get to Chapter 5 in Prey, make sure Matt doesn't agree with Emily’s idea of visiting the fire tower, no matter how much she insists. Then, walk by the elk slowly when you encounter them in Chapter 6, avoiding the temptation to swing the axe. 

Also, do not let Emily take away the flare gun, and when she falls, try to save her twice before you shoot at the targets. And once you get to Chapter 10 with Jessica, remember to hide and stay still when the Wendigo is close. 

Keeping Ashley Alive

With Ashley, there are no difficult choices if you want to save her. Besides, there is only one occasion where Ashley’s life is at risk, although there’s still a final decision Sam must make to ensure everyone survives. In Chapter 9, do not open the trap door when you hear voices. It’s a Wendigo and will kill Ashley once you open. Then, in Chapter 10, Sam must cross the ‘don’t move’ scene, save Mike, and hide when prompted with the option. 

How to Keep Joshua Alive

Unlike in Until Dawn, Josh’s fate is decided in Chapter 8 – Revelation and Chapter 10 in Repentance. Towards the end of Chapter 8, select the dialogues ‘They Hurt Me’ and ‘I’m So Sorry.’ It will be during the last encounter with the doctor, Hill, before Josh gets overwhelmed by the hallucinations. In Chapter 10, while playing Sam along with Mike, do not head for the waterwheel directly. Instead, move left and climb the ledge. You will find the diary left by Hannah and read it to save Josh. 

Best Choices for Emily

Keeping Emily alive shouldn’t be hard. You only have to know the options to take when presented, and she will survive. Her first encounter, which is potentially fatal, is in Chapter 8 – Revelation when the Wendigo chases after her. She can run left into the elevator or veer to the right. Here, take the left and be quick to start the elevator. Otherwise, you will miss the QTEs. Missing any one of the quick time events will see Em die. Also, during the chase, when Emily climbs the conveyor belt and is prompted with the options to get off or stay, you must step down to be safe.

Saving Mike

Mike survives by default until Chapter 10. However, at some point in Chapter 5, you could easily have his fingers chopped off, but this won’t kill him if it happens. So, don’t engage with the waving hand machine at the Morgue or the Sanatorium. It’s a trap that will cause Mike to lose his fingers and the machete. Aside from that, Mike generally only needs to complete various QTEs to beat the Wendigo. His survival in Chapter 10 is in Sam’s hands. 

Until Dawn 2024: Keeping Everyone Alive-How to Save Sam

Samantha, the invincible character in Until Dawn 2024, survives until Chapter 10. If she dies, she will probably be the last to die while attempting to save everyone else. For her to survive, she must get through the tricky ‘Don’t Move’ sequences. They are pretty challenging as even resting on the controller could easily trigger vibrations that the Wendigo can easily detect. Survive all of them and take the hide prompt, then save Mike when the game offers you the option. And when Mike tells you about blowing out the house, don’t be quick to flip the switch.  

How to Save the Wolf

While not among the leading 8 characters, you can bonus the wolf and ensure it survives. When Mike encounters a wolf, he can chase it or befriend it. He wins a trophy if he chooses the latter and lets it survive. You can start by closing the entry of the asylum so that no Wendigo will enter and harm the wolf. Also, in Chapter 9, ensure you don’t miss any quick time events. Missing one means the wolf will take the hit and die.
