Drecom teases new release with Hungry Meem
  • Developer Drecom, the folks behind Wizardry Variants: Daphne, have teased a new release
  • Hungry Meem is still seemingly in stealth mode but some details have emerged
  • A full reveal is set for sometime this month

It's rare that we get a truly cryptic announcement these days as most major developers and publishers are all too eager to quickly play their hand. However, on occasion, we do get smaller companies using the intrigue to their advantage; which is the case with Drecom and their teaser for their latest release!

Although it's not clear what platform it'll be on, or indeed what Hungry Meem is actually about, a teaser website is already live and showcases some strange creatures hanging around a tree stump. A full reveal, or even release, looks set to take place later this month on January 15th.

Those of you with a keen eye will recognise Drecom from the release of Wizardry Variants: Daphne, which they brought to mobile late last year. That and their work on the long-running smash hit One Piece: Treasure Cruise!

Feeling hungry?

However, now I run into the only issue with this kind of enigmatic announcement which is that there's very little to actually go on. I'd hazard a guess that this is coming to mobile purely off the promotional tactic of asking people to push a button on X, given that clicking a button doesn't exactly have the same ring to it.

Meanwhile, gameplay-wise? Maybe a creature collector or some kind of AR gotta' catch 'em all type of thing. We'll just have to see when we hopefully get a full announcement later this month. What with Drecom seemingly being content to experiment, I'd hold out hope for some surprises at least.

In the meantime if you need a way to tide yourself over, and want to try out some of the top releases to start 2025 in the right way, take a gander at our latest ranking of the top five new mobile games to try this week!
