Super Flappy Golf wings in on another closed alpha test with applications now open
  • Super Flappy Golf is an interesting take on minigolf mixed with Flappy Bird
  • It's also seeing a new closed alpha test that has opened applications
  • Super Flappy Golf comes from storied dev Noodlecake Games

Like golf? Like birds? Well, you're in luck, because some mad geniuses have combined the two! Alright, so Flappy Golf isn't exactly a new series, but its latest entry Super Flappy Golf is still in development. However, if you're looking to try it out, now might be the time to sit up and pay attention because it's going into closed alpha, with applications now open!

The gist of Super Flappy Golf, and its predecessors, is a mix of mini golf and Flappy Bird. Sounds like a recipe for disaster, but the conceit is you have a limited number of "flaps" to adjust your ball's trajectory after it initially launches. You have to find your way through complicated levels in pursuit of an elusive hole-in-one.

Those looking to give Super Flappy Golf a try can apply for the closed beta test through the developer's Google Form. As far as I can tell it appears to be available for both iOS and Android, so applicants for both platforms should be in with a chance to get hands-on earlier than most.

Hit a birdie

Normally I'd be sceptical about a game that mixes Flappy Bird and golf, but Noodlecake (who you may recognise from Slash Quest) do have the pedigree to pull something like this off. So I'd say that if you think mixing those two is a recipe for success, there's no harm in dropping an application.

But in the meantime if you want to see where our opinions lie on a few other new releases, and some key mobile concepts, why not dig into the latest edition of the Pocket Gamer podcast?

And while it has been a rough year for many, there have been some great games that have hit storefronts regardless. Want to make your voice heard? Then vote in the new Pocket Gamer Awards!
