Red Dead Redemption’s Lead Designer And Mario + Rabbids Creator Team Up To Create New Studio, Day 4 Night

It’s always better to hear about a new studio forming, instead of more layoffs. Creator of Ubisoft’s popular Mario + Rabbids titles Davide Soliani who recently left Ubisoft has joined forces with Red Dead Redemption’s lead designer Christian Cantamessa to form new studio, Day 4 Night.

The new studio enjoys backing from PUBG developer Krafton and 1UP Ventures, who’ve together closed out Day 4 Night’s initial round of funding.

Cantamessa and Soliani are also joined by co-founders Cristian Nava, Gian Marco Zanna, and Luca Breda, each veteran developers in their own right who’ve also, like Soliani, come from Ubisoft.

“What we are crafting at Day 4 Night is a reflection of everything I’ve ever wanted to experience as a player – joy, adventure, poetry, action, wonder, and the pleasure of working with friends,” said Soliani in a press release. “It’s a lullaby for my soul and a serenade to our industry, to the magic and the madness of creating worlds from nothing. It’s a story about triumphs, challenges, dreams, to light the path we walk together.”

For his own part, Cantamessa adds “When I first fell in love with videogames at the start of my career, I saw the power of this new medium to tell stories never told before and create worlds that could transform people. Day 4 Night is a return to that innovative spirit, to that innocence, to that unbridled creativity.”

Whatever comes from Day 4 Night, it’ll be well worth keeping an eye on with such immense talent packed into one studio.
