George RR Martin, the creator of Game of Thrones who offered major contributions to Elden Ring‘s lore and world building, has revealed there’s been “some talk” about bringing FromSoftware‘s fantasy epic to the big screen.
When asked by IGN if he would return for a possible Elden Ring sequel, Martin replied:
Well, I can’t say too much about it, but there is some talk about making a movie out of Elden Ring. We’ll see if [the Elden Ring film] comes to pass and what the extent of my involvement was, I don’t know. I’m a few years behind with my latest book, so that also limits the amount of things that I can do.

While an Elden Ring sequel hasn’t been confirmed by FromSoftware, Martin did reveal during the same interview that he feels a possible follow-up could add more material in terms of world building.
Yeah, I think especially when you’re world building, there’s always more that you actually see on the screen. And that’s true of any of these big epic fantasies. I mean, you look at Tolkien and there are hundreds of pages of past history before you get to even the era of the Hobbit and dozens of kings and wars and things like that.
This isn’t the first time that Martin has touched on a possible adaptation of Elden Ring. Back in July last year, Martin offered something of a tease that something might be in the works after Elden Ring was offered the Nebula Award for Game Writing by the Science Fiction & Fantasy Writers Association.
