CD Projekt RED has posted a new job listing for the in-development Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, known internally as Project Orion, which reveals the studio is looking to create the ‘most realistic crowds ever seen in a video game.’

The job listing in question is for a lead encounter designer for the highly anticipated Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, and states that the successful candidate will “work in close collaboration with the systems design team to create the most realistic and reactive crowd system in any game to date.”

Earlier this month, it was reported that a number of industry veterans had joined up with the CDPR Boston team to work on Project Orion, including Dan Hernberg (Amazon Games), Ryan Barnard (Massive Entertainment) and Alan Villani (WB Games).

Back in January 2024, the game’s narrative director, Igor Sarzyński, has described the original Cyberpunk 2077 as just a “warm-up” in comparison to the sequel.

Cyberpunk 2077 was release for the PS4, PC, and Xbox One in December 2020, although the console versions were plagued by various bugs and glitches that took months to fix. The PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions arrived in 2022 and removed many of these problems, as well as fully optimising the game for the latest hardware. CDPR launched Cyberpunk 2077’s first and only expansion, Phantom Liberty, in September 2023.

CDPR announced back in November 2024 that Cyberpunk 2077 had reached 30 million copies sold worldwide.
