What Is Dino Crisis?
Dino Crisis was released in 1999 for the PSOne and is essentially Resident Evil with dinosaurs. Okay, so that’s a very shorthand explanation, but quite accurate in terms of basic gameplay mechanics. Unlike Capcom’s zombie series, Dino Crisis uses 3D backgrounds and focuses on puzzles and exploration, with combat not always encouraged as players must carefully manage their healing items and ammunition – just like in Resident Evil.
The game stars special agent Regina, who is dispatched alongside three other comrade to a research facility on Ibis island to apprehend Dr. Edward Kirk, a scientist who was thought to have died three years prior and is leading a secret weapons project. While exploring the facility, Regina and company quickly find out that it’s overrun with dinosaurs, and must battle to survive.
