- The game sees you managing a city trying to survive the grip of a global ice age

Com2Us' mobile adaptation of the hit survival city-builder Frostpunk: Beyond the Ice will be arriving on October 29th, it has been announced. Featuring mobile-exclusive gameplay features such as multiplayer social elements have also been revealed. Suffice it to say as the weather chills you won't need to wait long to face the frost.
Frostpunk should need little introduction, but for those not in the know this survival city-builder sees you trying to sustain one of the last human settlements on a frozen Earth. Difficult moral decisions see you balance efficiency and ethics, up to and including deciding who must live and die to keep the city alive and its head-producing generator burning.
Produced by Com2Us and Tencent Games, Frostpunk: Beyond the Ice brings this iconic game to mobile. Set to feature a bevvy of new minigames with locations like the Pub, Stock Market, Animal Shelter and Hospital, as well as trading with other players by specialising your city in a particular industry.
A frosty or warm reception?
For a game like Frostpunk, which is almost entirely reliant on being harsh and unforgiving, the decision to bring it to mobile could face a chilly reception. Having played an early build of it I was intrigued, but the need to balance brutally harsh gameplay difficulty with the necessities of F2P I feel may be setting this game up for disaster. Still, with the promise of a surprising depth of features and minigames, hopefully Beyond the Ice can stand out from the pack.
