Final Fantasy IX Remake Could Require Multiple Titles Due To Its ‘Huge Volume,’ Says Yoshi-P

Speaking during an interview with Video Games, Naoki ‘Yoshi-P’ Yoshida touched base on a possible Final Fantasy IX Remake, suggesting that if it were to happen, it may require more than one title — as is the case with Final Fantasy VII Remake.

Yoshida-san was asked what Final Fantasy game he would personally like to remake, a question that he admitted was tough for him to answer.

Oh man, that’s a super tough question. The one that I would like to make myself would be Final Fantasy 3, I think. Of course, I do know there are requests for Final Fantasy 9 to be made, but when you think about Final Fantasy 9, it’s a game with huge volume. When you think about all of that volume, I wonder if it’s possible to remake that as a single title. It’s a difficult one. It is a tough question.

A remake of Final Fantasy IX has been rumoured for some time now, although Square Enix has still yet to officially announce the project. Back in June, known insider Midori claimed that the game is already far along in development, and the previous year, Jeff Grubb claimed that Final Fantasy IX Remake is indeed happening.

Final Fantasy IX was originally released for the PSOne back in 2000 and has since been made available for multiple platforms.
