Starfield's exclusivity window could be ending...

Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer has been doing the PR rounds this week following Xbox's big Developer Direct broadcast and during a chat with Destin Legarie, he's been asked if Starfield will "stay put for the time being" on Xbox.

The short answer is "no" and according to Phil - there's apparently "no specific game" in this position and it goes back to his "red line answer", where he said potentially anything could go to other platforms:

Destin Legarie: "Indiana Jones has an exclusivity window, can you solidify that Starfield's staying put for the time being?"

Phil Spencer: "...There's no reason for me to put a ring fence around any game and say this game will not go to a place that it would find players, where it would have business success for us, what we find is we're to able to drive a better business that allows us to invest in great game line up...and that's our strategy, our strategy is to allow our games to be available - Game Pass is an important component of playing the games on our platform, but to keep games off of other platforms...that's not a path for us, it doesn't work for us"

He goes on to explain what Xbox is doing now enables it to create the "best platform for the world's best games" - highlighting how the "biggest games" are available in "multiple places":

"We want Xbox to be absolutely the platform that enables that, we think that makes us unique."

Spencer made similar comments about Xbox's strategy during another interview this week, stating how it would continue to ship more games on PlayStation and Nintendo platforms while citing creators who want their games to be played by as many people as possible.

This latest update on Starfield's exclusivity window follows ongoing rumours Betheda's space RPG could be released on other platforms in the future. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has already been confirmed for the PlayStation 5 and is arriving next month.
