Silent Hill 2 awards a trophy for trying to turn back and leave Silent Hill at the start of the game

The newly developed remake of Silent Hill 2 rewards players for trying to skip playing the game.

At the start of the game, protagonist James starts from an Observation Deck overlooking Silent Hill. He’s supposed to head down the stairs and make his way into Silent Hill, where the adventure begins.

However, as Automaton reports, players can instead turn right and try to leave Silent Hill by walking down a country road in the opposite direction.

If they attempt this, the game will eventually give them an invisible wall – James is inevitably forced to face the horrors of Silent Hill – but it does at least award players with a PlayStation Trophy.

The ‘No Turning Back Now’ trophy will be awarded, with the description: “Try to leave Silent Hill in the Observation Deck area”.

Silent Hill 2 is released on October 8 on PS5 and PC. Developed by Bloober Team, it’s a complete remake of the 2001 PS2 game of the same name.

“Silent Hill 2 is a skilfully handled retelling of one of the medium’s most loved survival horror games,” we wrote.

“It stays faithful to the original (to a fault at times) but breathes enough new life into it to simultaneously ensure that long-time fans will appreciate the respect shown, while newcomers won’t find it antiquated.”
