"This is where the X button goes"
In case you missed it, Xbox boss Phil Spencer recently made a light-hearted joke about the button placement on Sony's PlayStation 5 controller, noting how the 'X' button (known as a cross on PlayStation's gamepads) is in "the wrong place".
It's already got some mixed reactions, and now Xbox's official social media account has joined in on the banter, with a very clear reminder about where the 'X' button goes... at least on an Xbox controller:
Again, it is just a funny joke, so don't get too upset by this if you're a fan of Sony's controller. As our friends at Push Square also mention, it's quite impressive how all three platform holders (including Nintendo) place their 'X' button in different locations.
Nintendo places its 'X' button where the 'Y' button is on an Xbox controller, and Sony places the 'X' button where the 'A' button is on Xbox's controller. Interestingly, Xbox's button layout follows in the footsteps of Sega's Dreamcast, but the colour of each button is different.
In some other news this week, Xbox revealed a new transparent controller along with six Design Lab variants.
