Amazon has announced that the Like A Dragon: Yakuza live action series will arrive on Prime Video on October 24, 2024.
Produced by Amazon MGM Studios, Like A Dragon follows the original Yakuza from 2005 (and to that end, Yakuza Kiwami, released in 2016) and features six episodes. Like the game, the story follows former Yakuza Kazuma Kiryu, who becomes embroiled in a conspiracy surrounding his best friend Akira Nishikiyama.
Like A Dragon: Yakuza features many familiar faces from SEGA’s classic gangster title, including Goro Majima, Yumi Sawamura, Shintaro Kazama, Makoto Date, and Daigo Sasaki.

Like A Dragon: Yakuza showcase modern Japan and the dramatic stories of these intense characters, such as the legendary Kazuma Kiryu, that games in the past have not been able to explore.
The Like A Dragon franchise first launched for the PS2 in 2005 and spawned a sequel, Yakuza 2, the following year with both games come to the US and UK. Interestingly, the original Yakuza was, until recently, the only entry in the series to be given a proper English voice over treatment, featuring Eliza Duskhu and Mark Hamill.
The arrival of Yakuza 0 in 2017 however was a big game changer for the series, as it brought the franchise mainstream attention which continued momentum with Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2. Beginning with Yakuza: Like A Dragon however, the series adopted a traditional JRPG template, with spinoffs such as Like A Dragon: The Man Who Erased His Name featuring the series’ trademark arcade action.
