Every year, Google releases a Best of list for the year, featuring all the standout experiences in mobile. We’ve finally got the results for this year in and the results aren’t too surprising. From joining forces to defeating giant bosses to clearing playful obstacle courses, the best games of 2024 on Google Play have it all.
The Best Game award goes to Supercell’s Squad Busters, which comes as no surprise. The tactical multiplayer game offers a thrilling experience as you take part in fast-paced battles. Build your own roster of powerful heroes and take part in a variety of different game modes as loot trees and monsters to win gems.
Supercell’s had a good year for sure as they also won the Best Multi-device Game, with Clash of Clans taking the cake here. Even a decade later, it still remains a favourite. Being available on a myriad of devices including phones, foldables, tablets, Chromebooks, and PCs, the strategy game offers a bunch of flexibility to seamlessly play anywhere.
There were numerous other categories which also received awards. Best Multiplayer once again went to Squad Busters, while the light-hearted Eggy Party was named Best Pick Up & Play. In the indie space, Yes, Your Grace claimed the Best Indie award. For story-driven adventures, Solo Leveling: Arise took the top spot, while Honkai: Star Rail secured Best Ongoing for its consistent updates.
Family-friendly gaming was celebrated with Tab Time World, and Kingdom Rush 5: Alliance became a favourite on Play Pass. Meanwhile, the adventurous Cookie Run: Tower of Adventures was crowned Best for Google Play Games on PC.
We here at Pocket Gamer also have our own awards ceremony, The Pocket Gamer Awards 2024. The voting stage is currently live so go ahead and vote for your favourite games that came out this year.
