The Northern Expedition entrance in Fisch.Sail between Terrapin Isle and the Forsaken Shores to reach the Northern Expedition entrance.

The Northern Expedition island can be sailed to quickly through Terrapin and the Forsaken Shores.

It takes around 20 seconds to get there from Moosewood with a 90 speed boat like the Sleigh. Head into the portal to teleport there. It’s separated by a loading screen unlike other islands.

What to do on the Northern Expedition

First off, you’ll need the Fisch Glider to clear the content in the Northern Expedition. Grab that if you haven’t already. You’ll also want to bring around 50,000C$ to buy the Oxygen Tank and its upgrades as you climb.

Also note the two new mechanics: Oxygen and Body Temperature that appear as meters as you climb higher up the mountain. You can replenish the heat meter by standing near campfires. Interact with Refill Station tanks at the camps to replenish your oxygen.

Once you go through the portal into the Northern Expedition area, keep straight toward the island.

Moor at the camp and buy the Basic Oxygen Tank to the right of the first tent. Equip it. You’ll need it to survive as you climb the mountain beyond the second camp.

Take the left path and keep going until you start to turn around the mountain and keep hopping over the ice and climbing the ladders you come across.

When you approach another camp, take the slight left path further up rather than going into the cave on the right. Avoid the cave up here, too. Just keep going right and up the mountain.

You’ll need to use the Glider to jump over a gap. Keep going and you’ll approach another clearing with ladders on either side. The left leads to another camp. Head there and grab the Pickaxe from the crate by the second tent.

Upgrade to the Beginner’s Oxygen Tank nearby. This has more oxygen than the Basic Oxygen Tank, letting you climb for longer without needing a Refill Station.

Head out of the village the way you came. At the clearing, take the right path. Climb the rocks toward the cliff and use your glider to cross the gorge. It’s important that you stick to the path from now on.

Follow the roped fences. It’s a very long walk but you should make it to the next camp with around half of the Beginner’s Oxygen Tank remaining. You may need to user the glider again just to climb up the final cliff.

The temperature meter only affects your vision slightly. it will be near the bottom by the time you reach the camp. Don’t worry about it.

The Winter Cloak in Fisch.

Grab the Intermediate Oxygen Tank by the Summit Rod nearby and continue the climb. Take the ladders to the right to find an NPC selling the Winter Cloak for 7,500C$. Grab this if you want to ignore the temperature meter entirely.

Head back out the way you came, this time taking the ramp further up the mountain. This path takes you through the Cryogenic Canal and Glacial Grotto zones. Hug the walls to avoid the avalanche knocking you down at the first set of ladders.

You’ll soon come across a larger camp, where you’ll find the Advanced Oxygen Tank for sale and an upgraded glider. If you’re struggling for oxygen at this point and want to look around, just glide off the edge at the entrance of the village and back on briefly. This should count as you zoning back into the base location, replenishing your oxygen.

The summit of the Northern Expedition houses an altar. You need to place all four Energized Crystals here; which is part of why we grabbed the Pickaxe early on.

Glide back down to the first. Use the Pickaxe obtained from the second camp to break the ice by the NPC and grab the Blue Crystal.

Where to get the Green Energized Crystal

The Green Energized Crystal in Fisch.

Head up to the second camp where the path forks to the left and ride. Go straight on into the cave and talk to the NPC hidden on the left ledge to get the Green Crystal.

Where to get the Yellow Energized Crystal

You can find the Yellow Energized Crystal at GPS coordinates X 19503, Y 335 Z, 5548 during an Avalanche. We’ll have an image as soon as we track it down properly.

Where to get the Red Energized Crystal

You get the Red Crystal for free by speaking to the Hiker NPC by the altar at the top of the mountain while you have the other three crystals in your inventory.

Once those are placed, we think you then need to activate the frozen levers dotted around the mountain.

One is in the cave to the left of the second major camp, there’s one in crack in the wall between the final two camps, another on a peak close to the ocean you can glide to as you climb, and another on the edge of a cliff around the corner of the main path. We’ll add images as soon as we have them.

How to get the Crystalized Rod

As you climb up the Northern Summit, you’re sure to come across a rod frozen on an altar with two platforms nearby. It’s not far after the glide as you leave the second camp for the third. This is the Crystallized Rod, and the pickaxe isn’t enough to break it out.

To release the Crystalized Rod, you need two players. Each one needs to stand on either of the empty platforms with a Glass Diamond in their hand.

Unlocking the Crystalized Rod in Fisch.
Thawing the Crystalized Rod needs two players and two Glass Diamonds.

We managed to fish one of these up very quickly in the Overgrowth Cave near the base of the mountain, and you can trade them to another player if they’re struggling to get their own.

Stand on the platforms long enough and a beam of light will eventually melt the rod’s frozen prison. It’ll set you back 35,000C$ and comes with the following stats:

  • Lure Speed: 35%
  • Luck: 45%
  • Control: 0.15%
  • Resilience: 15%
  • Max Kg: 25,000
