Crab Game movement guide and beginner tips

Even though it hasn’t been updated in years, Crab Game continues to be one of the most popular titles for players wanting to get the Squid Games experience, especially with the release of Season 2. Since its release back in 2021, players have discovered ways to really take advantage of the movement controls to get a speed and jump advantage, so we’ve put together a Crab Game movement guide to help beginners get around effectively.

How to move faster in Crab Game

The first rule of thumb in Crab Game unless you’re on a map that restricts or relies on jumping, is to constantly be hitting the spacebar to jump around as much as you can. This makes you a much easier target in a lot of the games that are essentially player vs. player.

Once you’ve got that down, it’s time to take advantage of diagonal movement. In Crab Game, moving diagonally is actually slightly faster than running directly forward, allowing you to get a slight advantage once you’ve mastered the controls. This just means holding the Move Forward and either the Move Left or Move Right keys at the same time, which by default is W+A or W+D. After mastering diagonal movement, you can mix in jumping, sliding, and climbing, which will double the speed at which you do them.

The final movement strategy you want to add to your arsenal is the Crouch Diagonal Jump. By default, jump crouching gives you a slight speed boost in Crab Game, so adding this with the increased speed from diagonal movement, you can really zip around. Essentially this just means holding down your diagonal movement (W+A or W+D) and then hitting Spacebar to jump followed by C to crouch. Release as you land and rinse and repeat the process allowing you to sort of ‘bunnyhop’ around at faster speeds.

There are a couple of movement strategies you’ll want to incorporate several movement strategies depending on which event you are playing in Crab Game. Almost all games can take advantage of Hyperjumping by holding Shift and either W+A while looking right, or W+D while looking left, so more quickly jumping around. Mixed with the above bunnyhop strategy, you can compound your speed even further.

For the Red Light Green Light map, you’ll want to also learn how to do the above while sliding into the wall on the sides as it is a guaranteed strategy to succeed at the Red Light Green Light minigame.

Finally, the Race event maps have a secret beginner tip you can use to gain a movement speed boost by hitting Spacebar (or Jump) right when you hit one of the tires. This will boost your jump distance and give you a major speed boost as well.
