If you've already had a chance to dive into this brilliant game, you've probably wondered, "What the hell am I supposed to do?" Fret not - I made a complete Wizardry Variants Daphne guide, so you can have a clear idea of what you should be doing right from the very beginning.
In Wiz Daphne, things aren't as straightforward as your average turn-based RPG - but rather, it follows in the footsteps of a more classical turn-based RPG. I mean, even the graphics take you to the old-school Final Fantasy franchise in a way. All that won't matter much though, because if you like the RPG as much as I do or you really want to give it a try, this guide will come in handy.
I've explained in more detail a little bit about everything you need to know to help get you started, so if you don't know a thing about the RPG, don't worry - I've got you.
Before we dive into the guide, you need to be aware that this is also a gacha. It's not your typical gacha though, so if you want to have a really good headstart, you should read the Wizardry Variants Daphne tier list and reroll guide that I've written, because I have listed there what heroes you should try having in your lineup.
Also, you can find a reroll guide there too, so if you want to min-max your account, you might want to consider rerolling so you can start with 2 or 3 good Legendary heroes.
Wiz Daphne is as F2P-friendly as they come
As I tend to do in most of my guides, I like to share a little bit about the F2P or P2W mechanics. With this one, I am thrilled to say you can enjoy it as F2P as much as you would if you wanted to invest some money. Don't worry, though - there are plenty of opportunities to spend money if that's what you want, but it is not mandatory in order to progress and enjoy the game!
So with that being out of the way, let's dive straight into the tips and tricks!

Tip #1 - Go for a neutral personalityWhen you first start playing, right at the beginning of the tutorial, you will be asked a number of questions that will determine your personality. I strongly recommend you aim for a neutral personality since that is going to benefit you and your team the most. Personality is important because every hero you summon has a certain personality too, and when forming a team, some heroes receive/offer boosts based on that.
You can have a Good, a Neutral or an Evil personality. Which one you have won't matter on its own, but it will matter in the team formation. For instance, one of the best healers in the game, Alice, will offer a boost if her team has only Neutral or Evil members.
How to determine which personality you get?
After each question you answer, the screen will have one of three colours: blue, yellow or red. Blue is Good personality, Yellow is Neutral personality, and Red is Evil personality. You should keep track of the questions and answers, and try to have a relatively equal number.
This is how you get Neutral personality:
- Blue: 5 - Yellow: 0 - Red: 5
- Blue: 4 - Yellow: 2 - Red: 4
- Blue: 3 - Yellow: 4 - Red: 3
This is how to get Good personality:
- Choose all the answers on the bottom line (answer C)
This is how to get Evil personality:
- Choose all the answers on the top line (answer A)
Can you change your personality later on?
No, the personality you get is final, and it is entirely based on the answers to the questions. I recommend you pay really close attention to that, and if you didn't get the personality you wanted, then maybe consider rerolling your account.
What stats do you give your main hero at the beginning?
These are the stats I recommend for your main hero when you are starting off in Wizardry Variants Daphne:
- Strength: 19
- IQ: 12
- Piety: 13
- Vitality: 18
- Speed: 13
- Dexterity: 16
- Luck: 14

Tip #2 - Best team formations in Wizardry Variants DaphneNow it's time to talk about team formations. There are two ways you can go about this. Firstly, you can (and should) try going for the heroes that are top-tier in our tier list, and form a good team that can be used end-game too. Secondly, if you are just barely starting out and you don't have all the heroes for the first team, you can try going for this team which is also pretty decent.
Team formation #1 (recommended)
- Lanavaille - MC (yourself) - Elise
- Debra - Alice - Yekaterina
Team formation #2
- Barbara - MC - Elise
- Marianne - Dino - Jean
Always have a Priest on your team!
I can't stress how important it is to have a Priest on your team. The Priest will be able to heal MC, which is ultimately going to help keep you from dying (because when MC dies, it all goes to hell). You can also try having two Priests, if you think your characters can handle the damage. Either way, just try to keep MC alive and hopefully the rest of the team too.

Tip #3 - Avoid unnecessary battlesLet's say you just got started, got a few characters - even top-tier ones - and you head into battle. Unlike in other RPGs, in Wizardry Variants Daphne, you can actually lose those characters you summoned if they die. You should never head into battle unprepared, and more importantly, you should not try fighting battles when you are on low HP.
Try to stay away from battles that will end up in your MC dying, since it will give you a very hard time. I recommend fighting a few battles at a time at the very beginning and then calling it a day. Try to upgrade your team members, try to get better equipment, and avoid fighting dangerous enemies.

Tip #4 - Enhance your equipmentThe equipment you get is also going to play an important role in how strong your heroes can be. You should always give your team the best equipment you have, and try to upgrade it all to +5. This will grant you additional stats, and even a little bit of extra HP or ATK could be a game-changer.
Don't forget that you can find gear in the abyss, and you can also summon for it using Gems if necessary (though I don't recommend this). Overall, just try to give your heroes the best gear you possibly can, and don't upgrade every piece you have - just the ones that are equipped. That will save you some resources.

Tip #5 - Always have healing potions on youHealing potions can be found in the abyss, but you can also purchase them. You should always have a few on hand whenever you are headed into battle, even if you have 1 or 2 Priests on your team, as an insurance policy. You want to make sure that none of your heroes die in battle, especially the MC.
You shouldn't use them to recover a little HP either - just use them when your hero's HP is in the red and in danger of dying. If you know you can heal your team and keep them alive, you also shouldn't spend a potion. My recommendation is to have 3-5 healing potions on hand at all times, minimum.

Tip #6 - Slow and steady is the right way to progressAt the start of the game, especially if you are completely new to it all, I recommend going into battle with about 4-5 enemies. Go and see how well your team survives. If you have good survivability, you can continue the battle; otherwise, head back to the Inn and regroup.
The best way to approach battles in Wizardry Variants Daphne, in my opinion, is by taking it slow and having a steady pace. You need to be mindful of your team's health and try to improve your heroes every chance you get. I cannot stress how important it is to avoid exploring too much when you're on low HP, because it will make your life a lot harder, and you might even have to restart from scratch.
It's challenging and time-consuming, but trust me, if you are taking things slow, it will be a lot more beneficial to you, and you will soon find yourself being able to clear a lot of enemies.

Tip #7 - More tips and tricks!I've got a list of more Wizardry Variants Daphne tips and tricks to help you out!
- If you want to spend money, consider getting the pass. That will allow you to resurrect heroes a lot easier, and that's one of the things that should be your #1 priority.
- Always build your team with durability in mind - use good Armor, and make sure they have enough defensive stats.
- ALWAYS disarm traps. You need a thief for that, but MC can also inherit that skill and use it to disarm traps.
- How to inherit the disarm skill onto MC: Tap on MC> Training Room> Inherit Skill> Select a hero who has Treasure Trap Disarm Skill> Inherit. This will come in handy quite a lot and you won't have to use a thief on your team. Also, the hero you inherited the skill from will disappear.
- I recommend you use the heroes that are not so great for skill inherit - use the skills that constantly boost the stats onto the heroes that you use the most on your team.
- Every single day, purchase from the Jeweler 10 Gem of Org for 100 Gold, and Azure Lustrous Ore for 10 Gems.
