There’s no time like Black Friday for PC gamers looking to make their yearly upgrades. If a gaming monitor is on your list or a wishlist you’re shopping for — be it an excessively curved ultrawide 1440p OLED, a 27-inch flat 1080p display, and anything in between — you were right to wait. We found enough deals on gaming monitors for PC and consoles to make it worthwhile to tell you about the best ones here.
There aren’t many good reasons to buy a new 1080p gaming monitor these days — unless you’re new to PC gaming and trying to get into the hobby while spending as little as possible. The prices for solid 1440p (also known as QHD) and 4K monitors have come down significantly, and I recommend spending just a bit more than you may think you should on a new monitor. Compromising may come back to bite you later, and you’ll be glad to have the sharper resolution and extra features the next time your upgrade your other PC hardware.
One other thing worth mentioning is that you should carefully consider your monitor’s aspect ratio. Most are 16:9, making everything from games, movies, and TV shows look as they do on a TV. If you decide to get a 21:9 or wider monitor, keep in mind that not all PC games support ultrawide resolutions, and consoles are locked to 16:9 aspect ratio output.

If you need a gaming monitor with a very fast refresh rate, you’ll want to check out the MSI MAG 271QPX. This 27-inch OLED monitor boasts a 360Hz refresh rate and a 1440p resolution, providing you with excellent performance and fidelity.

You can’t go wrong with almost any OLED gaming monitor. However, most of them have a matte display, which reduces some of their brilliant contrast. If you’re looking for the rare 27-inch OLED monitor with a glossy coating, Asus’ XG27AQDMG is one to consider.
$593
While very similar to the MSI Mag monitor on this page (aside from refresh rate), the design of LG’s UltraGear might strike your fancy a bit more.
$1050
It’s almost unbelievable that the engineers at Samsung were able to craft the OLED G9, a raft of a gaming monitor that easily spans even large desks.
