Doug Cockle, the voice actor behind Geralt of Rivia, has revealed that developer CD Projekt RED scolded him for saying he would be in The Witcher 4.
In case you missed it, Cockle said back in August that while he had yet to see the script for the upcoming fantasy RPG, he said that “we know that Geralt will be part of the game, we just don’t know how much.” However, speaking in an interview with Geektown, the actor was giving a firm telling off by CDPR, and that he doesn’t actually know if his character will be present in The Witcher 4.
Well, you know, I did go online and I said something about this and then I got slapped by CD Projekt. I don’t know how true it is. I went off a rumour – I thought I’d seen somebody from CD Projekt say that Geralt will be in The Witcher 4 but he won’t be the main character, and I don’t actually know if that’s true now.
They came back [to me] and they went ‘we haven’t put anything out there, don’t say anything’, so the truth is, the answer to your question is I don’t know what it’s going to be.

CDPR recently confirmed that The Witcher 4 has now entered full production, although obviously the game is still years away from release at this point. However, the developer’s VP of technology added that the game isn’t skimping on ambition, and will be ‘better, bigger and greater‘ than its predecessor.
