Funcom has confirmed that its survival MMO Dune: Awakening will launch on PC via Steam on May 20.
The base game will be priced at $49.99/€49.99, with pre-orders starting soon, according to Funcom. Players who pre-order Dune: Awakening will receive the ‘Terrarium of Muad’Dib’ decoration for their in-game houses.
Funcom previously said that console versions of the survival game would arrive at a later date.
Alongside the announcement, Funcom has released a free character creator and benchmark tool on Steam, which will allow players to create their character and test their PC specs ahead of Dune’s launch.
“Dune: Awakening is the most ambitious survival game ever made, set on the most dangerous planet in the universe, Arrakis,” Funcom says.
“Whether a Dune fan or not, the vast world will immerse you in an epic experience that draws from both Frank Herbert’s sci-fi masterpiece and Denis Villeneuve’s blockbuster movies.”
VGC recently visited Funcom in Oslo, Norway, to play a near-final version of Dune: Awakening.
“Dune Awakening, the new survival game based on Frank Herbert’s sci-fi universe, feels surprisingly authentic to the recent Hollywood movies, but at the same time fleshes out the Villeneuverse with new ideas we haven’t yet seen on screen, or in the books.”
