The Jujutsu Kaisen manga officially comes to an end

2 months ago 103

The hit manga series Jujutsu Kaisen has officially concluded with the release of its final chapter, Chapter 271. The culmination of this beloved series marks the end of a nearly seven-year run, having first debuted in Weekly Shonen Jump on March 5, 2018.

The end, however, doesn’t come as a surprise. Back in August, Gege Akutami revealed that there would only be five more chapters to the manga’s much-awaited conclusion. At present, there is no announcement regarding the mangaka’s future projects.

During its time in publication, Jujutsu Kaisen rapidly grew into a cultural phenomenon, transcending its manga origins to become a sprawling franchise. The series inspired a wildly popular anime adaptation, feature films like Jujutsu Kaisen 0, and a myriad of merchandise. The anime currently has two completed seasons, and a compilation of the second season is on the way. Season 3 is said to be in production, though no official release date has been announced.

Jujutsu Kaisen tells the story of Yuji Itadori, a high school student who unwittingly becomes involved in the dangerous world of jujutsu sorcerers after discovering and swallowing a cursed object — one of the fingers of the King of Curses, Ryomen Sukuna. Having survived the act, Yuji becomes the sorcerers’ trump card in defeating the villain. As such, Yuji’s mission is to consume all of Sukuna’s fingers and then sacrifice himself.

The final chapter can be read on both VIZ Media and MANGA Plus.
