The highly-rated Quake style spinoff of Postal is now 70% off on Steam

From top-down, to first-person, to third-person, and back again, Postal is a shooter series that’s been through many gameplay guises, but a few things remain constant – lunacy, violence, and more often than not, controversy. However, one of the best Postal games isn’t actually a mainline entry. A Quake-style, retro boomer shooter, 2022’s Postal Brain Damaged is extremely highly-rated, and now it’s super cheap on Steam.

Yes, the latest mega Steam sale might be over, but you can always count on Valve’s storefront to bring you some decent discounts even when there isn’t a seasonal sale event going on. This price drop for Postal Brain Damaged caught my eye, as it bags you one of the top-rated FPS games on Steam for under eight bucks.

In this spinoff from the main series, all the dystopian, disgusting, and delirious hallmarks of Postal remain, but take the form of a classic boomer shooter. Developed by Hyperstrange and CreativeForge, rather than series custodians Running With Scissors, you head inside the mind of the Postal Dude himself, battling through some surreal levels.

You get to wield an arsenal of weapons that are either familiar to fans of other classics (such as the heavily Doom-inspired shotgun) or just completely farcical (such as a vacuum that fires cats). In a rather unique twist to elemental combat, you can also switch between three urine mods that will turn your piss into Liquid Nitrogen, Hot Sauce, or Suspicious Moonshine. Yes, really.

Despite its crude premise, this Postal spinoff boasts an unbelievably high, “overwhelmingly positive” Steam user rating of 96%. If you love Doom, Quake, and other boomer shooters like them, it’s definitely worth trying.

Postal Brain Damaged is currently 70% off on Steam, making it just $7.63 / £6.41. The offer lasts until Thursday, January 9. It’s also got a free demo, and you can download it and learn more about it here.
