The director of all six Sharknado movies has a new film, and it's a Dave the Diver live-action short

I've got some exciting news for fans of Sharknado, Sharknado 2: The Second One, Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!, Sharknado: The 4th Awakens, Sharknado 5: Global Swarming, and The Last Sharknado: It's About Time.

Anthony C. Ferrante, the director of all six Sharknado movies (and the upcoming Sharknado prequel, Sharknado Origins, coming soon to probably-not-a-theater) has a new film out, though it's surprisingly both shark and 'nado free. It's the official live-action film for Dave the Diver: In the Jungle. It's about 10 minutes long and you can check it out below:

Yes, it's silly. It's cheesy. The casting is pretty good, but the production values are on par with mid-range cosplay. And that's fine! Look, you don't go to Asylum, producers of proudly bad-good shark flicks, unless you want your movie to be goofy and, dare I say it, shot quickly and affordably.

Instead of sharks, the film is mostly about Dave and his pals fighting Sulong, an enormous crocodile that serves as one of the expansion's bosses. And don't worry, though Ferrante has mainly focused on sharks in his movie-making, gators are still well within his wheelhouse: he co-wrote the song "Meth Gator" for the Asylum film Meth Gator, which is about a gator on… let me check my notes… yep, meth. You can even hear the song Meth Gator in the Dave the Diver film credits. Gotta say, it kinda slaps.

I'm fully on board with the cheesiness of the Dave the Diver short, with one exception: I took a bit of psychic damage from seeing the mighty Bancho depicted with a glued-on beard from Party City. I know the Asylum specializes in low-budget offerings, and that's completely fine: I've only seen the first Sharknado movie but I thought it was hilarious.

But I can't forgive that dollar-store beard. Do not disrespect Bancho again, Anthony C. Ferrante, or you will answer to me.
