On 16th October, SuperGaming officially launched Indus on the Google Play Store for Android and the App Store for iOS. Upon launch, the game debuted at the number one spot on the Top Charts for free-to-play games on both Android and iOS. A day later, SuperGaming revealed that Indus surpassed 1 million downloads across both platforms.
With Indus Battle Royale, SuperGaming broke the traditional mold of sci-fi by incorporating Indian elements through Indo-Futurism. This concept optimistically envisions India's past, present, and future. The game’s developers have told time and again how the idea of Indo-Futurism came from Indian history and this concept will resonate with everyone, as it is relatable and familiar. With Indo-Futurism taking center stage, Indus provides a fresh take on the battle royale genre, bringing an exciting chapter for Indian gaming and esports.
A part of the game’s appeal is how it features Indian culture with a futuristic twist, specifically the Indus Valley Civilization. With mainstream media often portraying India as a land of colors with loud music, and iconic street food, and as the home of Bollywood, it tends to overlook the best bits —Our heritage and rich history. “Indus changes this with Indo-Futurism — a never before seen take on India's culture and heritage through the lenses of optimism and science fiction,” said Indus Game Director Jwalant Gangwar, in a previous interview.
“Overwhelming Response from the Gaming Community,” Notes SuperGaming
On 17th October, SuperGaming, one of India’s leading game development studios, announced that the Indo-futuristic battle royale game, Indus, surpassed 1 million downloads across the App Store and Google Play Store. “We are incredibly humbled by the response from our community,” said Roby John, CEO and Co-Founder of SuperGaming, in a release. “Reaching 1 million downloads on launch day and topping the iOS and Google Play charts is a major milestone for us, but we know this is just the beginning. As we continue to grow, we’re committed to making Indus even better with every update, built hand-in-hand with our community.”
John also acknowledged areas for improvement within the game, emphasizing the company’s dedication to meeting players’ expectations. Ahead of its official launch, Indus had 14 million pre-registrations, according to a press release from the studio. The studio had hosted numerous community playtests prior to its open and closed beta testing phases, with player feedback proving critical in refining the game's development.
Let’s Talk About Game Modes, Avatars & Weapons in Indus
Players diving into Indus can choose from traditional battle royale modes with first-person and third-person perspectives on the map of Virlok. The game also offers a Team Deathmatch mode featuring 4v4 and 2v2 matches, with pre-made loadouts and a unique map called Saaplok. Players have a diverse selection of avatars to choose from, spanning various series:
Challengers series: Adi and Adya

Yaksha Vintage series: Diya
Yaksha Culture series: Neo Yash

The game sets itself apart from competitors with two standout features: Cosmium Clutch and Grudge. According to SuperGaming, the Cosmium Clutch introduces a dual-win condition in battle royale matches.
“In addition to the traditional last-person-standing win, the Cosmium —an ultra-rare resource—spawns in the final circle; capturing Cosmium grants your squad an instant victory, but the challenge lies in surviving the chaos as every team scrambles to secure it while battling each other,” says Super Gaming.
The Grudge system adds a unique layer of revenge to gameplay. When a player is eliminated, they can declare a grudge against their opponent. In the next match, both players are placed in the same lobby, with the grudge opponent’s approximate location marked on the map.
Indus Battle Royale is available for download on both the Google Play Store for Android and the Apple App Store for iOS devices, offering a fresh take on the battle royale genre with its Indo-futuristic twist.
