House Veth’aal requires your assistance to find Vaeric, a crucial figure who ties into the power grid questline. It will be pretty tricky to locate him with planet Va’ruun’kai’s vast landscape, but there are a few ways to make the process easier.
Here’s how to find Vaeric and whether you should kill or spare him in the Starfield Conflict in Conviction quest.
Where to find Vaeric in Starfield Conflict in Conviction
The first part of the Conflict in Conviction quest takes you to Herald’s Rest, where Vaeric frequently visits. If you speak to Egbo Kazmi, he’ll tell you that Tane will help you with the task. Wait for a bit (a few seconds), and Tane should arrive at the bar soon. Once he arrived, I opted to give him 1,000 Credits and have him accompany me along the journey. If you follow the tracks, you’ll be taken to an Abandoned Camp in the northwest area of Dazra.
Unfortunately, Vaeric won’t be there, so you’ll need to look around for some clues.
Examine the Camp
To thoroughly examine the camp in Starfield Conflict in Conviction, you must locate the following items:
- Vaeric’s Camp Log: Next to the bed
- Footprints: The digging site with a wheel barrel
- Vortex Spawn: A part of a Vortex enemy in the dig site
- Bloodstains: On a boulder underneath a tent
The camp will be fairly small, so you shouldn’t have too much trouble finding these points of interest. Once you cover each of them, a bunch of Foul Vortex Horror enemies will spawn. Try to survive through this ambush to reach the next phase of the quest.
After eliminating the foes, you must follow the mission waypoint to determine where Vaeric fled. Continue to follow this waypoint until you reach Irina’s Farm. Irina will tell you that Vaeric is nearby, located on an abandoned farm of the Apostate’s Farm. You’ll finally be able to find him here, but you must first analyze your surroundings.
Search the dwelling
Head straight to the left side to discover Vaeric’s Computer in the dwelling. Read each log to get more information about his whereabouts.
Then, walk upstairs and grab Vaeric’s Log on top of the table near the couch.
With the two objects on hand, speak to Tane outside, where Vaeric will make his abrupt appearance.
Should you kill or spare Vaeric in Starfield Conflict in Conviction quest?
When Vaeric approaches you, he will try to plead his case to defend his traitorous actions. He’ll explain how he wants to lead a different life away from House Veth’aal, but his father forbids him to do so. You’ll have three options: attack, let him go, or persuade him to return to his home. If you free him, you can request 10,000 Credits and gain his Signet Ring. The ring will trick Vaeric’s father into thinking he’s dead.
Besides freeing Vaeric, you can kill him and Tane to satisfy House Veth’aal’s demands. It more or less results in the same outcome as the first route, but this time, you won’t have to lie to his father.
If you persuade Vaeric to return to his home, everyone will be happy with this decision. Although Vaeric will be hesitant at first, he’ll come to realize that his family and House are more important. His father will also accept his wrongdoings and welcome him back with open arms. With all three choices laid out, sparing and persuading Vaeric to return to House Veth’aal is the best outcome. No one will be upset with this decision, and you’ll still get the 6,600 Credits for your efforts.
